CLINICS:-

HEALTH PROMOTION ACTIVITIES

All of the Doctors at the Surgery consider these to be of paramount importance. Please see the posters in the Waiting Area and/or make an appointment with one of our Practice Nurses or Health care Assistants.

Your Doctor will often raise general health issues during routine consultations. Please feel free to discuss any specific areas of concern.

ASTHMA CARE

This is provided by Surgery appointments with your usual Doctor in conjunction with Asthma Clinic attendances with one of our Practice Nurses. You may be asked to make a Clinic appointment by your usual Doctor, or you may make a Clinic appointment whenever you feel that advice is needed regarding the control of your asthma. In addition, you may receive an appointment through the post, even when you are well, to have your treatment reviewed.

DIABETIC CHECK

This is provided by Surgery appointments with a Doctor in conjunction with specific Diabetic Clinic attendances at the Surgery, or in certain circumstances, the Hospital. We aim to offer all diabetic patients, who are not under regular Hospital follow-up, a Diabetic Clinic review once a year. Appointments are sent out by post.

CONTRACEPTIVE/FAMILY PLANNING ADVICE

A range of Family Planning methods is available at the Surgery including emergency contraception and fitting diaphragms, caps and long-acting reversiable coils and implants. Please make an appointment with your GP to discuss theses contraceptive methods.

OBSTETRIC (ANTENATAL) CARE

This is provided by the Practice Community Midwife in combination with your usual Doctor. Appointments to see the Midwife are made through Reception. Booking appointments are best made between eight and ten weeks of pregnancy if possibe. The Midwife will advise you about antenatal classes later in your pregnancy.

The Doctors do not offer to supervise home deliveries

WELL BABY CHECKS

Your baby will be seen by your usual GP in Surgery at 6-8 weeks while you have your post-natal check.

MINOR SURGERY

Some of the Doctors carry out certain minor operations at the Surgery. In the first instance, please make an appointment with your usual Doctor.

COUNSELLING SERVICES

In certain circumstances your Doctor may refer you to one of the Counsellors who hold sessions at the Surgery. In the first instance, please make an appointment with your usual Doctor

TRAVEL VACCINATIONS

Please call the Surgery as soon as you book your holiday to discuss what travel vaccinations you may need and how soon you may need them with the reception staff. Some of these vaccinations are considered non-NHS vaccinations and as a private prescription, you will need to pay for them. The reception staff can inform you of the costs.

ANTICOAGULATION MANAGEMENT

Due to the planned closure of the Anticoagulation Clinic the surgery have specially trained nurses to provide this service. If you need to attend this clinic you will be initially sent an appointment date and time through the post. Our clinics are held on a Tuesday and we do have provision for a home visit for those patients who are physically unable to come to the practice.

If you need a doctor Out-of-Hours, please dial 08445 76 9200 and you will be put through to the Out-of-Hours Service
