Out of Hours

If you require emergency treatment for a potentially life-threatening condition you should dial 999 and ask for the ambulance service. The following conditions are considered potentially life-threatening:-

Chest pain, loss of consciousness, breathing difficulties, severe blood loss.

When the Surgery is closed, please telephone the usual Surgery number 08445 76 9200.

Your call will be diverted to Derbyshire Health United between the hours of 6.30p.m. and 8.00 a.m. Monday to Friday and 24 hours Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Derbyshire Health United Out of Hours Service (for further information connect through the DHU link on the right-hand side of the homepage of this Website).

Derbyshire Health United Out of Hourse service will respond accordingly. You may be asked to attend your own Surgery, or the Derbyshire Health United Centre. Alternatively, depending on your clinical condition, you may require a home visit or be asked to attend the A&E Department at Ripley or the Royal Derby Hospital (previously Derby City General Hospital). In serious emergencies you may be advised to telephone 999.

When you call the Out of Hourse Service you will be asked to give your name, contact details and the reason for your call. Depending on the problem you may then speak with a Nurse or Doctor. If the Service is experiencing a high volume of calls someone may call you back.

If you are asked to attend a Treatment Centre you will need to get there by your own transport.

Information about your contact with the Out of Hours Service will be forwarded to us at the start of the next working day.
