Opening Hours and the Role of Reception

Opening Hours

Surgery opening times (Reception manned):-

Monday to Friday 8.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Telephone access to Reception:-

Monday to Friday 8.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.For routine and non-urgent matters please telphone after 10.30 a.m.

When we are closed emergency cover is provided by Derbyshire Health United, an organisation commissioned by the PCT to provide out of hours care.

We provide routine appointments with the doctors each week and additional appointments for urgent problems.

Our appointment system allows greater flexibility for our patients - we have an automated booking system which allows you to book the next available routine appointment with a GP. This service is available 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

Everyday we have an "on call" GP who deals with emergencies and urgent problems which cannot wait until the next routine appointment time. Please respect this and do not use this for any routine or ongoing problems you have.

Extended Opening Hours

The Surgery will be open for patients who cannot attend during normal opening hours. Single appointment slots of 10 minutes will be allocated.

Tuesday/Wednesday mornings 7:00 a.m.

Monday Evening to 7:30 p.m.

Role of Reception Staff

The role of our Reception Staff as a first point of contact is very important to us. Please understand that they are constantly balancing the needs and expectations of patients and Doctors in an ever changing environment. They have to respect the privacy of patients and have a right not to encounter abusive or violent behaviour. The Practice has a zero-tolerance policy.

Telephone Services

The practice does not have an answering machine so if you find yourself leaving a message, it will not be at Whitemoor Medical Centre, but an incorrect number. Please do not leave a message but dial again.

If you need a doctor Out-of-Hours, please dial 08445 76 9200 and you will be put through to the Out-of-Hours Service
